Forecast Public Art supports Soundtrack for Phillips Project Spring 2014 - Spring 2015

I'm blessed this year to be working on the Soundtrack of Phillips Project.  Thanks to Hope Community, Intersections, Irna Landrum and Medium Zach for their help in preparing and presenting with me to Forecast Public Art.

We'll be listening to the Phillips neighborhood in Minneapolis, gathering sounds and stories and songs, put together some Phillips Neighborhood playlists, and be composing songs over the next several months. Medium Zach and I will record and produce a new album from meditations and inspirations from the neighborhood.  We hope to release the Soundtrack Spring 2015!

Everyday Ways

Back from hibernation.....here's a reminder of how we keep warm when it's real cold outside!

So, I consider myself a Culture Worker - an artist using creative practice to nurture and be useful to my community, my ancestors, and my planet.  I was approached by Colin and Shanai of Works Progress - to do a short video about my creative life (they'd been commissioned by the McKnight Foundation to profile several past fellowship recipients as part of their commemoration of 60 years of supporting the arts.  I wanted to show / highlight the ways that I treat of creativity as every day practice - and to honor my amazing creative, justice and peace, health and earth harmony-seeking community in Minnesota.

Much Love

October 14, 2012

Has it already been nearly a month since we were at Icehouse Mpls w/ Oyin Dance Collective and  Jayanthi Kyle / Wes Burdine (Gospel Machine)!

We heated the place up & had a fabulous time!
Photographer Meredith Westin came through and took some great  show photos for TC Daily Planet. Check them out!
